About Us

This really is part of our story!

LandIs Alive

Our land is alive.  Alive with life that works together to make our soil fertile.  Taking care of the life that inhabits the soil is one of our goals.

Ours has been a journey from gardening the way corporations have taught us to grow plants to learning how nature works.  The most important change in thinking involves looking at the soil as a living community.  When the soil is healthy, plants become healthy.  I no longer look at the soil as just dirt.  There are millions and millions of living organisms that inhabit every square inch of soil if we allow them to.

Our small compost pile evolved into collecting leaves from others to create even more compost.  After reading more about how to restore life to the soil, worm bins were added to create even better compost.  No-till gardening became the obvious method of gardening after understanding how the soil food web works.

That brings us to where we are today.  We feed the soil and allow the soil to feed the plants.  Our soil is healthy, our plants are healthy and most important - our food is healthy.
